WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LEAD COMPOUNDS?

There are very minimal benefits of lead as it is a toxic compound. Historically, it was used for its pigment properties and for increased skin adhesion and smoothness, but it is now recognized primarily as a harmful contaminant. Lead is typically an impurity in cosmetic products.

WHAT ARE LEAD COMPOUNDS?

Lead compounds are chemical compounds that contain the element lead, which is a metal used frequently in paints.

ARE LEAD COMPOUNDS SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES AND TONES?

Lead compounds are NOT safe, regardless of skin type and tone.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Lead compounds are highly toxic, and exposure can lead to severe damage to the nervous system, kidneys and reproductive system. Common complications include abdominal pain and cognitive impairments. Children are particularly vulnerable to lead poisoning leading to developmental delays and behavioral complications. Lead is usually an impurity in cosmetics and is restricted to 10-20 parts per million by regulatory standards.
