Bemotrizinol is an ultraviolet filter covering the UVA1, UVA2 and UVB spectrum. It can absorb broad ultraviolet energy to reduce resulting DNA damage to skin cells.
Bemotrizinol (i.e., bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine) is an organic ultraviolet (UV) light filter. It is approved in the European Union and protects from UV light in the UVA1, UVA2 and UVB range.
Bemotrizinol is likely safe for all skin types and tones. There are reported cases of allergic contact dermatitis from products containing it, thus it should not be considered in patients with reactions to it or those who could have reactions to it.
Available evidence suggests there are no absolute contraindications to using the product; however, individuals with hypersensitivity should avoid products containing it.
